Amazon shuts down Destinations hotel booking service six months after launching it

The news is live on the Amazon Destinations website.

Amazon has discontinued Destinations, an online service for making hotel reservations.

If you go to the Amazon Destinations website, you’ll see the news:

“Effective October 13, 2015, Amazon Destinations stopped selling hotel reservations,” Amazon states on the site. Today is October 13, so this is news. The Seattle Times first reported it.

Amazon elaborates on the service’s help page: “Effective October 13, Amazon Destinations stopped selling reservations on travel.amazon.com and the Amazon Local app. If you have a reservation, your reservation is valid and will be honored by the hotel. No action is required on your part.”

Amazon was first reported to be working on Destinations back in November 2014, and it went live to the public in April. And just like that, it’s gone. That’s a short life for an Amazon product, but there you go.
